Given that we have here a large community of experienced programmers in both the Unix and the Mac worlds, has anybody in contact with the folks at UC Berkeley offered to build a version of the SETI screensaver and/or command-line martiancatcher optimized for the PPC G4 architecture ?
Considering that processing a workunit is heavy-duty numerical work, it sounds like the ideal task for an AltiVec equipped G4 CPU. Any ideas ? J.
