Hi. I just installed emacs21 (version 21.2.1). I'm running the latest
versions of both fink components (0.9.11 and 0.4.0.cvs).

If I wait a while after starting up emacs (30 seconds to a minute), it
switches from the colorful splash screen to the scratch buffer, and
everything works fine. However, if I try to type anything or click in the
window before the splash screen vanishes, I get the following in the
minibuffer:

Invalid function: (macro . #[(newelt listname) " <garbage in here>"
[listname newelt setq cons] 5 1364953])

The <garbage in here> appears to be some control characters -- I'm having
trouble pasting them.
If I then wait 15 or 30 seconds without doing anything, I can click in the
window and everything works as usual. However, the clock seems to be reset
if I try to click during the 15 or 30 seconds. I looked for a log, but
can't find anything. (The error message from the minibuffer is repeated in
the "Messages" buffer.)

I had no such problems with emacs 20.7, which 21.2.1 replaced.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
