Your Fink install is up to date...not old.
Installed Sept 15,2001 some binaries as old as Sept 18,2001. Yes up to date but also old with all the problems that entails.
Gnome-core is up to 1.4.0.6-3.Wow 37 packages updated since last week. But still have the same problems:
Zorro
Gnome help comes up English and immediately changes to Spanish.(I almost didn't notice this)
the gnome panels flash 2 times and they're gone.
