I don't really know about the panels ...but when you launch oroborosx.. in the menu at the top...there is an Options>XDarwin preferences. Bring that up and under the startup tab be sure keymappings is set to US. You may also want to check your System Preferences>International settings. Other than that maybe someone else has an idea.
