Actually, I tried rebuilding -- again with the Dec tools -- and I'm still
getting the exact same results. This time I have a build log, but it
doesn't differ from what was mentioned earlier. In any case, whatever the
problem is, it's cropping up with both versions of the devtools.

The key lines seem to be (in my case):

   c++ -o nsAntiAliasedGlyph.o -c -DOSTYPE=\"Darwin5.4\" -DOSARCH=\"Darwin\" -DOJI
-D_IMPL_NS_GFXNONXP -DUSE_POSTSCRIPT -DUSE_XPRINT -DUSE_MOZILLA_TYP
   In file included from ../x11shared/nsAntiAliasedGlyph.h:9,
                    from nsAntiAliasedGlyph.cpp:47:

And then fifty or so lines citing /sw/include/freetype2/freetype/ftglyph.h
as a possible source of problems before ultimately failing with:

   make[4]: *** [nsAntiAliasedGlyph.o] Error 1
   make[3]: *** [libs] Error 2
   make[2]: *** [libs] Error 2
   make[1]: *** [tier_9] Error 2
   make: *** [default] Error 2
   ### make failed, exit code 2
   Failed: compiling mozilla-1.0rc1-1 failed

Is the problem in freetype?
Would rebuilding *that* package help?
Or is that just an innocent bystander here?
