That command should put a file in /sw/src/mpg123-pre0.59s.tar.gz. Is it
there? How big is the file? If it's small (under 10k or so), it could be
an html error message rather than a .tar.gz compressed archive -- if so
that would explain your first error. If it's big -- my copy is a bit under
250kb -- then the download probably worked, and the problem is elsewhere.
Either way, it would help to see more of your output...
