Thanks. It worked.

To achieve this I had to do a "apt-get update" which - although it obviously
managed to retrieve the necessary files - still reports many obscure errors:
is it normal that the package download aborts and only partial downloads are
made? Can't remember that this worked for me at any internet connection...
