After digging in /sw/etc/apt/sources.list I noticed that I have to call
"fink scanpackages" first! That it is not covered on the web site (or I did
not find it) and it is not mentioned in the fink man page. hmm.

However: no errors any longer doing "apt-get update".

I was asking for a description of what a "apt-get update" actually tries to
download and where these files are stored so that I can check if all this
misbehaviour is probably related to wrong file permissions etc. pp.

Can anybody explain this "scanpackages" behaviour? Who is scanning what for
who and what is being created?

Greetings
Tim
