Finally!!! I decided that Enough had become enough. I totally wiped out my Fink installation, and went from scratch (first using atp-get to install the latest binary for Xfree86_4.2.5-5/base/rootless). Then went for the new kde desktop (slow at this early stage, relative to gnome, but pretty). Gimp was installed via dselect, with other packages. Tried [& failed ;( ) ] to install gtk+2 after a 'fink selfupdate-cvs'. Then did another 'fink selfupdate-cvs' & update-all, followed by a 'fink install gftp'. This required the gtk+2, which INSTALLED!
End Game: I must have had some old library(ies) sitting about, even though my installation was up to date (with unstable) as far as fink could tell. Trust me on this: I had rebuilt nearly everything that I thought might remotely have had anything to do with this. So the easiest way for me to deal with it was to start from scratch. This took a lot less time than I had spent mucking about trying to fix it in place. Sorry, developers. This does not give as much information to you as I had hoped to, but one possibility: I had at one time a program file sourced in my .cshrc that included a SETENV at '.'. This is still needed to run that particular package (a very useful one for an NMR spectroscopist), but I just have that startup file as a separate file to source when I need it. That definition might have loused up where fink put a dylib at some time or another? If that were the case, then it would might have been unique to my setup. Best to all, and Thanks to the whole Fink Team! David On 5/31/02 7:47 PM, "Masanori Sekino" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Do you have /sw/include/gdk-pixbuf directory?
