Here's what I use. We don't have ssh forwarding enabled on the Linux box
(for some reason).
On my Mac I type: xhost + ipaddress.of.linux.box
On the Linux box I type: setenv DISPLAY ipaddress.of.myMacOSX.box:0.0
It's worked fine for me.
