Well, I completely wiped (as recommended) and reninstalled fink. The
basepath is correct (/sw). I also added unstable to fink.conf as
recommended as well. I did a build and had readline problems. So I
did a cvs self update and readline built fine... but after the cvs
update xfree86-base wouldn't build. The same problem as before.. there
is no application directory there:

mkdir -p /sw/src/root-xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1/sw
mkdir -p /sw/src/root-xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1/DEBIAN
install -d -m 755 /sw/src/root-xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1/sw/..
mv /sw/src/root-xfree86-base-4.2.0.1-1/sw/../Applications
/sw/src/root-xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1/sw/..
mv: rename /sw/src/root-xfree86-base-4.2.0.1-1/sw/../Applications to
/sw/src/root-xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1/sw/../Applications: No such
file or directory
### execution of mv failed, exit code 1
Failed: installing xfree86-rootless-4.2.0.1-1 failed

Note: there is no link path there.. it's in the /sw/src directory where
it's building everything before packaging up..

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm about to give up for now.

Alan
