Since I don't care that much for the HFS+ specific metadata,
I backup my things with plain tar, but I'd say that preserving
the metadata between two quite different filesystems wouldn't
be easy. :-)
Anyway, I guess that backing up the ".DS_Store" file in the
directories would (at least partially) backup some of the
information, but I have no idea if this is actually right.
