Forgive me for being unclear.  I never meant to suggest that 
open-source software shouldn't be ported natively.  I only meant this 
as a potential "stable work-around" for people like myself who have 
neither the time nor the inclination to deal with unstable software and 
the various glitches, freezes, and assorted other headaches that it 
entails.  Of course I want to run the Gimp natively in OS X, for that 
matter I want it to use Aqua instead of XDarwin, but if there were a 
choice between using a stable Gimp in emulation or one that causes 
system freezes natively, I'd take emulation until the bugs were worked 
out of the native one.

I have already received numerous truly venomous responses to what I 
thought were perfectly innocent remarks.  If I haven't left yet why 
would I now?  I believe in this project and support it fully, despite 
the unwarranted attacks I have received from some of it's users.
