Dear Fink Community, I'm having very good luck with Fink on OS X as my first Unix/Open Source experience (thanks to all of you!). My partner's about to get a new laptop, which will free up her Intel PIII desktop to be our full-time mySQL and (low traffic) web server. I've been developing our application on my iBook, and would like to continue to be able to test and proto on the iBook, but use the Intel box for our production server.
Can you recommend a Unix distribution for Intel *86, windowing (Finder replacement) environment (optional), and package manager combination to which my OS X/Fink learning will most directly apply, and by which our need for MySQL/PERL/DBI/DBD-mysql will be most readily met? Is anyone on the list in this situation of developing on OS X, but running an Intel box for production, and willing to trade insights? Thanks sincerely, Marc -- Marc C.
