I just installed the Open Office Beta for OS X 10.2. I was surprised
to see that the installer specifically mentioned Fink, as though they
expect that most of the people trying the beta will be fink users, or
at least are more likely to have installed Xfree86 using fink, than to
have used other methods.

There is a warning message about dlcompat and dyload. The OO installer
installs a dlcompat in /usr/lib and specifies some recommended changes
to the user's start up files so that it is used. I have so far simply
installed and started it up once. It has complained about some XRender
not being installed but beyond that I've had no problems.

I am curious if the versions of dlcompat and EPSGhostscript that are
(or may be) installed by the OO installer will mess up my fink
installation. I guess I'll find out soon enough anyhow, but I'm
curious if there are other fink users testing out the OpenOffice beta.
