You are getting multiply-defined errors where you should, at most, get warnings. I don't even get a warning. Somehow your linker behaves differently from other people's linker. Couldn't you try the April2002 dev tools update and see if it helps? AFAIR the only negative effect of the April tools was a misunderstanding between the April ProjectBuilder and some versions of xfree86-rootless, but this was resolved, so there shouldn't come any harm from updating.
