Dear Roger,
Attached is a version of Marc Liyanage's "MySQL" startup item file, which I
modified to reflect the fink paths. (I, like you, had installed Marc's MySQL
and MySQL_startup packages, then backed them out to use fink, but I
repurposed his startup package.) Simply leave or reinstall Marc's startup
item, then substitute this file for the similar file that his installer puts
in /Library/StartupItems/MySQL.
(I don't recall if you need to chown or chmod anything after copying the
file. You'd best "get info" to look at the privileges his installer sets up
for the file, then make sure they match after overwriting with my file.)
This has been working on my 10.1.5 system for several months. I'll also
paste the code below and copy this message separately to the list.
Peace,
Marc
