This happens every so often.
You may find that after you fix this one another package will complain; keep at it as long as you continue to get "files list file" errors.

this is while trying to run dpkg --install aterm...deb
i get the same error while trying to run dpkg --install readline...deb when trying to install squid.
have i gone and hosed something up? tia.
