If you mean that you are building your own packages, and having problems
with the libraries check out FAQ 6.3

Also, you can frequently give the configure scripts options when you run
them, e.g. "./configure --with-libs=/sw"  Check an individual scripts for
the options it takes.

Often libraries installed by Fink don't get recgnized by the configure
