Try running the Console Utility and then try clicking on the icon to run X--there may be a visible error message then. It sounds like your window manager isn't being run for some reason.

I can use 'startx' at a bash prompt and everything works fine, but if I click on the Xdarwin icon in the Applications menu, X doesn't get past the black and gray screen that loads initially. My guess is that there is something I didn't set up correctly in my environment, however, I'm at a loss as to what it is. Any help would be appreciated. bash-2.05b$ cat .bashrc PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/X11R6/man SHELL=/sw/bin/bash source /sw/bin/init.sh bash-2.05b$ cat .bash_profile . ~/.bashrc ENV=$HOME/.bashrc export ENV It's nothing catastrophic, as I can launch X from a terminal, but I did say 'uh-oh' when I initially tried the X icon :) Matt -- Matt Richardson Instructional Support Technician Department of Art California State University San Bernardino [EMAIL PROTECTED] (909)880-7727 ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
