I have had the same problem that others have commented on when trying to use KDE with 10.3. By chance, I found that when I choose minimize from the X11 Window menu after KDE has launched, the KDE desktop shrinks to the Dock and I am able to access KDE windows and menus with mouse and keyboard. I have not yet worked through the KDE config menus to find how to turn off the KDE Desktop (I thought I had)- this has changed since the last release I utilized. FWIW.
