Is there anyway to get emacs21 installed?

Does /sw/var/lib/emacsen-common/installed-flavors exist on your system? If not maybe you can create it (touch /sw/var/lib/emacsen-common/installed-flavors).
If it does exist, then maybe some permissions are wrong, e.g those of installed-flavors or those of /sw/var/lib/emacsen-common, ...
