David and Martin, thanks for the prompt replies. I have now reinstalled ghostscript-fonts.
For the second problem (fink wanting to install ghostscript), indeed, as Martin suggested, the problem seems to be the versioned dependency on ghostscript in gpdf and actually in ggv as well. After removing the version number for ghostscript in the Depends line of the two info files I have been able to update both packages without problems. These two seem to be the only packages affected (among those I am updating) since now update-all does not try to install ghostscript anymore.
