How do I make sure that this gets installed. If you just install an existing package it says it's already installed. I think I should remove Fink (following the FAQ) and remove X and reinstall it along with this BSD subsystem. Then retry the Fink install. At least I'll know I have the latest and greatest. Anything else I need to reinstall just to be on safe side?

Thanks for all the help.

What James means is literally what he said: there's a package from the main OSX installation called "BSD subsystem", and that it's possible that this didn't get updated.
