Actually it is quite easy to explain with an example from another Project.
The site looks nice, but I haven't deciphered what the purpose of this proposed new site is, and how it's purpose integrates with the http://fink.sourceforge.net/ page and with the e-mail lists. It would be useful if you could put a small article on this new site which explains your vision.
I may be able to provide specific comments on the site itself once I understand what its purpose is.
KDE has dot.kde.org where news related to KDE and news concerning KDE itself are posted. Interviews and community news are also posted on that site. It is meant to keep the community informed about what is going on around KDE not only with KDE itself. IT provides an "official" place to go to and look for KDE related things.
This web-site in creation should provide the same to the Fink Community. There is a lot of additional stuff going on with Fink which could be important to the community but does not make it onto the Fink news page on fink.sf.net because I and the others do not deem it important enough to warrant an announce there.
The fact that we added Variants support, back ground information on the developers, the fact that the Virginia Tech Super Computer used/uses Fink on all its nodes, the fact that the University of Tokyo chose to use Fink while switching more than 1000 Computer to Mac, are all interesting news that we should relay to the community.
It is still a pet peeve of mine, but the fact that I am the PR honcho for Fink will make it easier to establish as the "official" community site.
I hope this explanation helps.
Thanks for the work you do for fink.no, I do not do much. Thank you for using Fink, that is what is most important and improves it.
