so, definitely have tetex-base.  in an attempt to try to remove and
re-install tetex-base the world depends on it, so i tried just doing fink
install tetex-base it says everything is all good.  when i do try to
remove it, i get the following complaints:

sudo /sw/bin/fink  remove tetex-base
Information about 1357 packages read in 3 seconds.
dpkg --remove tetex-base
dpkg: dependency problems prevent removal of tetex-base:
 hyperref depends on tetex-base (>= 1.0-12).

 xdvi depends on tetex-base (>= 2.0.1-1); however:
  Package tetex-base is to be removed.
 tetex-macosx depends on tetex-base (>= 1.0-12).
 context depends on tetex-base (>= 1.0-12).
dpkg: error processing tetex-base (--remove):
 dependency problems - not removing
Errors were encountered while processing:
 tetex-base
### execution of dpkg failed, exit code 1
Failed: can't remove package tetex-base


do you have any hints before i make some crazy attempt uninstall all these
packages?
