I'm not sure what trees you're using, but I've got stable & unstable in mine. I updated all via fink a few days ago and my version of Abiword is 2.06, NOT 2.03. It launches; slowly, very slowly, but it launches. Very slowly on a 1.25 GHz G4. Very slowly. :) After it launches, however, it seems to respond fine. I use it fairly often and don't notice it being slow after it's already been running.
I'm not sure what version is in stable currently, but you should have at least 2.06 if you just updated with unstable.
