Hi,
I'm the packager of evolution and the connector. I can confirm it works here, I use it everyday at work. Maybe try skipping the part where is tries to detect auth protocol in the prefs.

I tried it without Gnome installed (just X11) and still got the same problem. I then tried Apple's X11 instead of Finks and still got the same problem :-/
I really don't know why this is happening, but if someone made a proper port of this it would be a major plus for the Fink community - especially now there is a *free* connector to opengroupware. That would provide a completely free, cross platform solution that could rival Mic$oft, Novell and Lotus.
