Hi,
I'm the packager of evolution and the connector. I can confirm it works here, I use it everyday at work. Maybe try skipping the part where is tries to detect auth protocol in the prefs.
I can confirm I have it here running, too, but every time one touches the settings it quits with the camel-error:

I am much too ignorant on the subject of C or objective C to tell what is happening at the line line 1116 of file camel-object.c, but certainly it would be a great leap forward for mankind and Open Source on OS X if somebody knowledgeable could solve this. Other than that revolution seems exciting indeed.
