Fink has Tomcat4, and I wondered:
a) is Tomcat a standalone server that runs in *conjunction*/addition to Apache? (i.e., start Tomcat, and you can always connect to <ipaddress>:8080 to get to the blog, or is this something that integrates with Apache as some kind of module?)
Yes, it is configured by default to listen on 8080, and be totally separate from your existing apache installation.
b) Will it play nicely with Apple's default installation of Apache, or do I need to start mixing and matching with a Fink version of Apache?
Since it listens on a different port, they're totally independent of each other, there should be no conflicts.

If we didn't, we would have made something else be the default. So keep your cotton-pickin' hands off our defaults. Don't touch. Consider them mandatory. "Mandatory defaults" has a nice ring to it.
