I see that in the list of packages update-all has queued there are versions of compress-zlib for perl 5.6.0 and 5.8.1; it's the 5.8.1 installation that's failing. I'd imagine it is redundant having both of these.
Is the -560 variant installed? Try removing it.
Just checked: there's a -584 version in the unstable tree. You might need to switch to that one.
Thanks for the suggestion - I just gave it a shot. Unfortunately more or less the same thing happened. Is there an appropriate way to substitute the 584 version for the 581? Fink won't let me remove 581 because of dependencies. Or could be something misconfigured in these test scripts? I appreciate your help.
