Hi Alexander, Thankyou somuch for the reply. I disabled the firewall and tried but the same problem persists! Now even when the firewall is enabled my Debian can Update packages using apt-get. Are the files fetched using FTP or HTTP. If they are fetched using FTP is the FTP server in "Active" mode? Can the fetching be done using HTTP?
