Hello, all ...
I've done some googling, and though I shall continue to google with my every googling bone, i've not yet found the solution to my problem -- that being, I can't get PostgreSQL 7.4 to install on my 12" PowerBook G4 (running 10.3.7). The following is the last thing I see:
g++ pgconnection.o pgdatabase.o pgtransdb.o pgcursordb.o pglobject.o -L/sw/src/root-postgresql74-7.4.5-21/sw/lib -L/sw/lib -lpq -install_name /sw/lib/libpq++.4.dylib -compatibility_version 4 -current_version 4.0 -dynamiclib -multiply_defined suppress -o libpq++.4.0.dylib
ld: warning -dylib_install_name /sw/lib/libpq++.4.dylib not found in segment address table LD_SEG_ADDR_TABLE /sw/var/lib/fink/prebound/seg_addr_table
ld: warning prebinding disabled because dependent library: /usr/local/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib is not prebound
ld: pgcursordb.o illegal reference for -dynamic code (section difference reference from section (__TEXT,__eh_frame) relocation entry (10) to symbol: std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > std::operator+<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >(std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > const&, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > const&) defined in dylib: /usr/local/lib/libstdc++.dylib)
ld: pgcursordb.o illegal reference for -dynamic code (section difference reference from section (__TEXT,__eh_frame) relocation entry (22) to symbol: std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > std::operator+<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >(char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > const&) defined in dylib: /usr/local/lib/libstdc++.dylib)
/usr/bin/libtool: internal link edit command failed
make: *** [libpq++.4.0.dylib] Error 1

I saw a message last time saying that I needed a newer Bison, so I installed that ... but still have no PostgreSQL to play with :-( Can anyone illuminate me as to how to get this beastie to install via fink?
Regards,
John
