Assuming you have really updated fink and the packages, I would suggest moving your initialization files (~/.xemacs) out of the way and restarting xemacs. If that works, there's a bug in your initialization files. Another guess: maybe one of the xemacs-packages isn't properly updated (check xemacs-sumo or whatever other packages you have installed - you didn't say which mode the problems pertain to).
