Thanks for digging this out, I guess I should have checked the
tracker. Maybe we can revive this after all.
I expect we'll see more packages that use fink, but are released
outside of the fink distribution system. Packagers probably get
frustrated at the great length of time required to get packages
through the approval process. We saw a bit of a burst of activity in
getting packages approved lately, but there are still over 100
package submissions with status "Undergoing Validation", and some of
them have been over two years in the approval process.
