After some time (today) I did an update-all of my fink-

with a segmentation fault.
So they don't refrerence any particular symbol--they just crash?
Yes, they simply crash:
% xterm -fa Monaco
Segmentation fault
% scribus
Segmentation fault
Weird thing is: I can run xterm (supplied
with X11.app from apple) normally, only when I run it like this
'xterm -fa Monaco' it crashes as well. I already reinstalled
applesystemfonts but that didn't help.
I am completely clueless atm and am happy for every help I can get as
I desperately need some of those apps. If anybody has a few cents on
my matter that would be great. I am willing to supply more info if
you need it, so far thats my system:
% fink --version
'Package manager version: 0.24.10
Distribution version: 0.8.0.rsync
% uname -r
8.2.0
% X -version
XFree86 Version 4.4.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
Greetings to everybody,
Andreas
Check the console.log file (e.g. via the Console program in
Applications/Utilities) to see if there's any information about
what's triggering the crash--especially if you get similar output from
two different X apps.
Unfortunately there is no extra-info in the log, it just references
to more info in the crashreporterlog, which ist quite heavy to read
for me. log for the above is as follows:
Oct 6 20:01:16 olive crashdump[1930]: xterm crashed
Oct 6 20:01:17 olive crashdump[1930]: crash report written to: /
Users/andreas/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/xterm.crash.log
Oct 6 20:03:06 olive crashdump[1948]: scribus crashed
Oct 6 20:03:06 olive crashdump[1948]: crash report written to: /
Users/andreas/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/scribus.crash.log
