<worksforme> I just tried, chose "Print" from the File menu, and it
printed the buffer on my default printer, no questions asked. This is
Fink xemacs-1:21.4.15-2. I have no printer-related configuration line in
either init.el or custom.el. If I look at some variables with C-h v, I
see for example: lpr-command is "lpr", printer-name is nil. With C-h f
lpr-buffer I get:
`lpr-buffer' is an interactive compiled Lisp function
-- loaded from "lpr"
(lpr-buffer)

for customization of the printer command.
Under Options|Printing, besides the option that you describe, and which
doesn't seem to default to anything, only asks for a name in the
minibuffer, there are options to choose the pretty-print paper size, for
color printing, and for command line switches for lpr/lp.
One possible explanation is that I have the "ps-print" xemacs-package
installed which provides lpr.el. I installed it via the xemacs package
installation system, but it is perhaps also in the Fink xemacs-sumo package.
