I have exactly the same problem with fontconfig2-dev-2.2.3-2.
The output I see is:

Some tinkering around the /usr/X11R6 and /sw/include /sw/lib/freetype2{19}
got me nowhere. Before delving into doing this manually - how have people
resolved this?
