Greetings
I would have sent this to individual maintainers but it seems to be
pervasive enough that it may be an issue with fink rather than
individual packages. If it turns out that it is package specific or
just bad luck with mirrors could someone say what lead them to that
conclusion. Clues for the clueless if you would. I would rather not
generate the unnecessary traffic if I can help it.
There seems to be a lot of problems with downloads. Mirrors are giving
a variety of errors for downloads of debconf and its dependencies. I
have tried to summarize below. Some errors seem to be package specific
and some server specific. I realize that is the nature of the
individual errors but hopefully this lays it out clearly.

(These may very well indicate that the files have not propagated to the
mirrors yet but I had flagged these packages several days ago for
download. How long should it take for these to propagate? Is this more
than bad luck?)

Also:
debconf gave an error in FinkCommander that this was not the latest
version
debconf, findutils and gengetopt would not cycle through to the master
mirror when there was an error downloading. The default response would
choose 'Give up' before it would go to 'master'. This is misleading for
the user in that it suggests that there are no further options and if
fink was told to automatically choose the default option the download
would fail.
