I do understand what you are saying about having a clean system, and I apologize to the list that this particular part of the discussion is taking up so much bandwidth. But I really am just trying to compile one set of plugins: the BLOP plugins from the LADSPA library. This and a few other LADSPA plugins are the only thing from a long list of Linux Audio apps I have already successfully compiled on what seemed up till now like a perfectly normal Fink/OSX system. In other words, before this particular problem, there simply wasn't a problem. After checking around I saw that this gettext issue seemed common with Fink, so I brought the problem here. I'm thankful for the tips you gave so far, but I'm not about to lose valuable working days reinstalling my whole system just for these few specific plugins which won't compile. Maybe I'm just a "quick fix" kind of guy...like most people looking for answers on the web, in my experience. Does anybody else have any ideas about solving this problem? best, d. -- derek holzer ::: http://www.umatic.nl ---Oblique Strategy # 69: "Feed the recording back out of the medium" ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
