One of my big problems is that I was running a very old version of Xcode --
verson 2.1 -- (despite the fact that I just bought a Mac Pro and it was the
version that shipped on the DVD included with the box). Upgrading to Xcode
2.4 solved a bunch of problems. I haven't read the FAQ thoroughly, but the
maintainer might want to exhort all Fink users to make sure they have Xcode
2.4 installed -- previous versions simply have too many bugs and glitches,
and 2.4 is the first version that supports Intel Core microarchitecture out
of the box (earlier versions had to fall back to targeting the cruddy
Netburst IA). For anyone who has a registered copy of OSX, the download for
2.4 is absolutely free.

I was finally able to do a 'fink selfupdate-rsync' and then pull down xorg.
It compiled and installed without a hitch.

However, my ultimate goal is to use gaim-ssl (which is why I needed xorg in
the first place). And I'm getting a complaint about fink not finding
mozilla-shlibs. (I"ve changed the subject to reflect the new problem.) When
I do a 'fink install mozilla-shlibs' it says that's not a valid package
name. But we're getting further. :)
