It is used to work correctly. Mouse has not changed, maybe it is related to mouse driver but it does not seem to be, since it works perfectly in Gimp.app (not from Fink, too old) and in Inkscape (from Fink).2 - Menu Miscellaneous->InfoI've got a "unable to load font "-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-12-*-*- *-*-*-*-*" warning, then it loads. Indeed there is no such font at size 12 reported by xfontsel, but there is at size 13.On both intel and ppc macs, I've just tried it at random with a PNG, EPS and an SVG file and saw no problems in display. Cropping worked perfectly here. I'm using fink unstable,imagemagick 6.2.8-1002,

same system
Package manager version: 0.25.1 Distribution version: 0.8.1.rsync i386
Package manager version: 0.25.99.cvs Distribution version: 0.8.1.cvs powerpcBut I really don't see why the fink version would make a difference here.
Since you mentioned no special file type, I'm guessing this happens independently of file type with your imagemagick;
Yes, I also tried with png, xpm, jpg, and svg.
that certainly looks weird (esp. that it claims it can't load Xwindow fonts). Sorry I can't confirm it. Maybe it's an X11 problem? I'm using Apple's X11.
Same here, Apple X11.Hum, maybe a freetype problem? Or an xfontpath problem or anything related to that.
Apparently there is something wrong with the fonts: when using the font browser within annotate, most of the fonts have size 0, and in xfontsel the default font (with * anywhere) is a Japanese font. Could it be related to the fact I installed canna, kinput2 and japanese fonts to test bluefish? And in this case, how do I revert to a sane fonts choice?
What is very strange it that it seems that this behaviour occurs only in imagemagick, in evince, ggv, xpdf, I get correct fonts.
I have also a .gtkrc which has Lucida Grande 8 as font.And a .fonts directory which maps apple ttf fonts to /sw/lib/fonts/ applettf/ contents.
