The version of the Fink distribution you have is way outdated for 10.4--0.5.4 was a distro for 10.2 before gcc3.3 came out. Your "fink" tool presumably doesn't know how to generate the system-perl586 virtual package. Try using Binary->Update and Binary->dist-upgrade to upgrade to a later Fink distro and fink tool. The "validation of splitoffs failed" stuff is an overzealous warning that is really intended for maintainers rather than users. Nothing for you to do. I'm a bit perplexed, though, because you're somehow updating to the intltool on 10.4/unstable, but you claim to be on the 0.5.4 distribution. -- Alexander K.
