Just for completeness, I get the same error on my G5 iMac running
10.5.1. The only difference between revision 1012 and 1013 is that I
added a dependency on automake1.9, but I have no idea if that has
anything to do with it. I also noticed that I have three files:

exile:info koen$ ls -la plplot*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 15956 Dec 27 09:41 plplotdoc.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 296323 Dec 27 09:41 plplotdoc.info-1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 202131 Dec 27 09:41 plplotdoc.info-2

Is that correct?
