The ; are not typos--I copied this right from the cvs info page on my
system. Put in the appropriate proxy configuration stuff from your
network.
Any chance this could be documented a little more completely, or
alternatively, have a binary for cvs-proxy restored back into the
10.5 line?
Sorry to be daft – I'm a longtime fink user at a firewalled site
that does not
appear to allow rsync to the outside world, and I have expertise
with CVS aside
from this application. As such, the installation of fink onto a new
10.5
machine is frustratingly ground to a halt at the first "fink
selfupdate" step
despite having set proxies, etc. via routes that have worked well
over the past
several years.

Try grabbing the 10.4 cvs-proxy binary via a browser.
http://bindist.finkmirrors.net/bindist/dists/fink-0.8.1/main/binary-darwin-i386/devel/
and then install it manually via e.g.
sudo dpkg -i cvs-proxy_1.11.5-1_darwin-i386.deb
I don't know if the people who can do the binary releases will do just
one package.
However, I was planning to _remove_ Fink's cvs from 10.5 . Our cvs-
proxy package is well behind the curve, Apple's now is the same
version as ours, and it works better; Fink's cvs-1.12.13 had issues,
at least on Panther and Tiger, bogging down on compressed transfers.
As for documenting it: I'll need help from someone who actually uses
cvs via proxy with the built-in cvs from 10.5 . I don't use it, and
the onboard documentation is admittedly not the most transparent.-------------------------------------------------------------------------
