Interesting.  With Xcode 3.0 and The 2.2.3 macosxforge.org X11, I've got the
following:

$ ls -l /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel    18 Dec 23
2007 /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.1.0.0.dylib -> libXdamage.1.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel    18 Jul  2
09:03 /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.1.1.0.dylib -> libXdamage.1.dylib
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 70964 Apr 29 04:35 /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.1.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel    18 Jul  2 09:03 /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.dylib ->
libXdamage.1.dylib
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel   936 Apr 29 04:34 /usr/X11/lib/libXdamage.la

The general advice has been to reinstall any macoxforge X11 update following a
system update, assuming that you had one of them installed. If you didn't
then that's another matter.
