As we state in the FAQ (for the context of 'mv' rather than
'rm'), errors involving a missing file generally are due to
something that happened earlier in the build, so there isn't any
real way to diagnose it with the output given. You'll need to
look earlier in your output to see where an error occurred.
I had searched in the FAQ, but I founded nothing corresponding to
the failure message in the output: nothing earlier about a
"dir.old".
Right. That's a specific failure message, rather than the general
condition of a missing file.

I saw the following lines that were suspicious:
checking for install-info... /usr/local/texlive/2007/bin/powerpc-

It's essentially impossible to make the build tools *not* look in /
usr/local, so try moving it out of the way temporarily.
Thank You; but I changed the TeX distribution to the Fink teTeX in
preference system; remove the file system-texlive; verify the path
into the /sw/bin/init.sh and in my .zshrc. It's the same. How to
moving it out ? I need to conserve the texlive 2005, because the
teTeX is obsolete.
