Dear Martin,

sudo -r --force-depends xfree86 xfree86-shlibs
sudo: illegal option `-r'

Instead, I ran
"sudo dpkg --remove --force-depends xorg xorg-shlibs"

Is it right? I received several error message(in Japanese).

Regards,
Akio

You have an old X11 package for MacOSX 10.4 from Fink installed. Remove it:

 sudo -r --force-depends xfree86 xfree86-shlibs

Then reinstall whatever X11 installation you had (either X11User.pkg
from a system DVD or from a combo update dmg + X11SDK.pkg from xcode dev tools, or xquartz from the macosforge site. The latter is the easiest:
download and install
<http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/X11-2.3.1.pkg>
