I tried updating fink ("fink selfupdate" followed by "fink update-all") for
the first time in a few weeks, and it promptly failed on gtk+2-2.16.6-2:
grep: /sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.la: No such file or directory
sed: /sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.la' is not a valid
libtool archive
I have no idea which package this is part of, but "fink reinstall
fontconfig2-shlibs" definitely did not fix the problem. This is not the
first time I've seen errors like this, and I still have no idea how to fix
it other than wiping out all the files I find with references
to /sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.la. (In this case, there are
multiple files in /sw/lib that refer to it.) What is breaking?
Second, a feature request: when I run a command like "fink install
fontconfig", if the package is not found could it please print something
more helpful than "no package found for specification 'fontconfig'"? There
is obviously a package somewhere that does have fontconfig in the name
(Google turned up several, in fact, and I can't tell the difference). Even
just accepting wildcards (e.g. "fink install fontconfig*") the way apt-get
does would be helpful.
thanks,
Nat
