I was just using exec gnome-session before the last Apple Update That updated
OS X and itunes.

It does not seem that this was overwritten by the update.
I set the script back so that quartz-wm is run :
When I select System->preferences/Window I get this error:
Cannot start the preferences application for you window manager
Window manager “unknown” has not registered a configuration tool
